By using multiple strengths of the same neutral black ink in place of the standard color inks on a
photo quality printer, Quad Black provides a simple and effective way of printing stunning black
and white images. Producing monochrome images using normal full color inks has always been
difficult. This is because the printer driver software makes up the image using all of the color inks
as well as the black. This makes it difficult to not only balance the neutrality of the image but also
color shades are often present in the highlight and mid tones. Because only black inks are in the
Quad black ink set then these color casts and defects are eliminated. The Quad Black inks are
also extremely archival and have been independently tested at over 120 years display life in
average indoor display conditions when used on recommended media.
Available in normal cartridges and in bulk bottles for use in our range of bulk ink feed systems
and refillable cartridges, the Quad Black inks work on many popular models of 4, 6, 7 and 8 color
printer model from both Epson and Canon. Before installing the Quad Black inks, the printer
must be flushed out using Lyson cleaning cartridges to remove the normal color inks from the
system. User guides and ICC color profiles are available for download at our support page to
help you set up your work flow and get the best from the Quad Black ink set.
