TYPICAL COST SAVINGS
A bulk ink feed system for the Epson Photo 1400 ships with 6 x 4 oz bottles of Fotonic V2 ink and costs $ 315.00. This is the same amount of ink as contained in over 48 original cartridges. The manufacturers stated retail price for an original cartridge is $ 18.99. This means that the system ships with the equivalent amount of ink as $ 911.52 worth of original cartridges, an immediate saving of $ 596.52. Ongoing savings are even higher. A 4 oz refill bottle of Fotonic V2 ink costs $ 19.00 and contains the equivalent ink as over 8 original cartridges, or $ 151.92 worth. This makes the equivalent cost per cartridge to be $ 2.38 by using Lyson bulk ink, a saving of over 70%.
The savings from using Lyson bulk ink can be quite considerable. A user who, for instance, consumed a set of normal cartridges per week on this printer model would spend around $ 5,924.88 per year on original cartridges. By using a bulk ink feed system the cost for the equivalent bulk ink would be $ 741, a saving of $ 5,183.88 per year.
Users of the Photo 1400 should be aware that the new design of the cartridge bay introduced by Epson on this printer means that the cartridge bay lid must be removed to install a bulk ink feed system. Once removed, the cartridge bay lid can not be re-installed and removal of the lid may invalidate the manufacturers warranty. However, this printer will work fine with the cartridge bay lid removed and can be used with standard cartridges again if required.
** Empty bulk ink feed systems are only warranted to work with Lyson inks. Although they should work well with other ink types, we can not guarantee the performance or compatibility with non-Lyson inks.
